The 14-day Best Uganda and Rwanda classic Safari starts in Entebbe/Kampala, Uganda and includes visits to Murchison Falls National Park, Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The first day includes a game drive and a launch cruise at the bottom of the falls, followed by a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel and a morning game drive. The special game drive includes a visit to the tree-climbing lions of Ishasha. The next day, you’ll visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the highest number of mountain gorillas in Africa, and visit the Batwa pygmies for a cultural encounter. After a relaxing break at Lake Bunyonyi, you’ll be ready for Rwanda.
The trip from Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda to the Volcanoes National Park offers a second gorilla trekking experience, allowing you to observe group composition and behavior differences. After the trek, you will visit the Gorilla Guardians Village. The next day, you will explore the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, and enjoy relaxation, swimming, canoeing, and island hopping in Lake Kivu. Day 1: Arrival and airport pickup – Transfer to your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala
Upon arrival, our company representative will meet you and warmly welcome you at the airport, then after transfer to your booked hotel. Depending on the time of arrival, if you arrive a little early, you will have an opportunity to visit either Entebbe Botanical gardens or Kampala City among others.

Day 2: Head to Murchison Falls National Park – Rhino tracking at the Ziwa sanctuary
The tour begins with breakfast and travels to Murchison Falls National Park, passing through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, including the Luwero triangle, where the current government launched guerrilla warfare. Before reaching the falls, you’ll visit the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, where white rhinos were extinct in Uganda’s national parks in 1980. The sanctuary currently houses around 18 rhinos, with plans to reintroduce them in future game parks. Lunch is at Amuka lodge before heading to the Murchison Falls National Park. The guide will drive you to the top of the falls, which plunge through an 8-meter-wide gorge before dropping. The tour also includes a visit to the nearby Uhuru Falls, formed in 1962 due to heavy flooding. Overnight and dinner.

Day 3: Early morning Game drive and a boat cruise along the river Nile
You will wake up early for a morning game drive in the southern sector of the park. Pack your breakfast or coffee for the trip. During the drive, you may see four of the big five: leopards, buffaloes, lions, and elephants, along with other animals like Uganda Kob, hyenas, jackals, giraffes, hartebeest, bushbucks, and various antelope. After the morning drive, return to the lodge for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, prepare for a launch cruise on the Nile, which has many hippos and crocodiles. This area is also great for birdwatching, with species like Fish Eagles, Shoebills, and Grey-crowned Cranes.

Day 4: Head to Kibale National Park
You will wake up at your own time and have breakfast before leaving Murchison Falls National Park for Kibale National Park. The journey is long but rewarding, allowing you to see Uganda’s beautiful countryside and local life. Lunch will be in Fort Portal, followed by a tour of the town and the headquarters of the Tooro Kingdom if time allows. Have dinner and breakfast.

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking at Kibale National Park – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park
After breakfast, the driver will take you to the Kibale National Park offices for a briefing on chimpanzee tracking. Guides will explain how to track chimpanzees. Kibale National Park offers the best chance to see chimpanzees, as there are four habituated communities. Chimps prefer to stay high in trees and are vocal, making them easier to find. Tracking can take 3 to 5 hours, after which you’ll return to your lodge for lunch and rest. Then, the driver will transfer you to Queen Elizabeth National Park in the evening, a journey that takes about 2 hours.

Day 6: Game drive and launch cruise at the Kazinga Channel of Queen Elizabeth Park
You will start your day early with a morning game drive at the Kasenyi sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda. During this drive, you can see both nocturnal animals returning to their homes and those that are active early in the day, including leopards, hippos, lions, buffaloes, and various birds. After the drive, you’ll have lunch and rest at your lodge. At 2:00 pm, you will go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, where you can see many animals and birds.

Day 7: Game drive at Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Wake up early for a good breakfast and get ready for your second game drive in Queen Elizabeth Safaris Tour in Uganda and Rwanda. You will visit the Ishasha sector of the park, known for its Tree Climbing Lions, and see other animals you may have missed before. After seeing the lions, you will leave the park and head to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park, stopping for lunch along the way. Arrive in the afternoon and rest for gorilla tracking the next day.

Day 8: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Visiting the Batwa Pygmies
Wake up early and have breakfast before the 7:00 am briefing about gorilla trekking at the park office. The head guide will explain the rules, requirements, what to expect, and information about the gorilla groups. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park has 11 gorilla families, some near the office and others deeper in the forest. Gorilla family allocation depends on travelers’ fitness and age. Tracking can be challenging, but seeing the gorillas, especially the young ones, is rewarding. Always follow the guides’ instructions and be calm while taking photos.
After the hour with the gorillas, you will return to the starting point to meet your driver. The driver will take you back to the lodge for lunch and a rest. In the afternoon, you will visit the Batwa pygmy community nearby, who were relocated when the forest became a park. The Batwa lived as hunters and gatherers for thousands of years.

Day 11: Mountain Gorilla trekking in Rwanda – Touring the Iby’iwacu Cultural village
Wake up and have breakfast before a 7:00 am briefing on gorilla trekking at the park headquarters. Officials will explain what to expect, what to carry, and how to behave around the gorillas. There are 10 habituated gorilla families in Volcanoes National Park, and you will be assigned to one based on your age and fitness. Some families may require longer tracking due to their distance. The trek involves rough terrain, which can be steep and muddy. Once you find the gorillas, take as many photos as you can during the hour you have. Stay calm, avoid sudden movements, and follow instructions from the park Rangers.
During your 14 Day Best Uganda and Rwanda classic Safari, after spending an hour with the gorilla group, our guide will take you back to the lodge for lunch and rest. In the late afternoon, you will visit the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village in Musanze, now known as the Gorilla Guardians Village, which has become a leading cultural center in East Africa.

Day 12: Golden Monkey Tracking – Touring the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera
Today is dedicated to golden monkey tracking and visiting the twin lakes. Wake up early, have breakfast, and go to the Volcanoes National Park offices for a briefing. After that, you will enter the forest to track golden monkeys with park Rangers. You’ll observe them in trees and foraging for insects. They are beautiful but endangered, so take plenty of photos. Afterward, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch and rest, then enjoy a tour around the twin Lakes of Ruhondo and Burera.

During the tour, visit the genocide war memorial site, the presidential palace museum, the main market, and do some shopping at artisan shops. The driver will drop you at the airport or your hotel.
