This 2-day birdwatching trip in Mabamba takes you to Entebbe and the famous Mabamba Wetland in Uganda. The wetland is known for the rare Shoebill Stork and offers room to variety of bird species. Mabamba Islands has become a top tourist site for birding. It is the best place in Africa, and even the world, to see shoebills.     You will be met by our company representative, who will take you to your accommodation in Entebbe. Depending on your time of arrival, you might visit Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), home to several caged wildlife species with over 170 bird species, including the rare Northern Masked Weaver, Peafowl, Pink-backed Pelican, Kingfishers, storks, and others. After, you will transfer to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens for bird watching on the trails around Kampala, where you can see over 150 bird species. Enjoy your lunch in the gardens, relax while observing the birds, and return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

  • Day 2: Mabamba Wetland and Search for Shoebills

    Wake up early, have breakfast, and transfer to Mabamba Swamp, about 50 kilometers west of Kampala. Search out for several birds on the way, including the Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Warbler, White Shouldered Tit, Pallid Harrier, Herons and others. The swamp is famous for the rare Shoebill Stork, along with other birds like the Blue Swallow, Allen’s Gallinule, Grey Herons, Swamp Flycatcher and others. The best way to see the birds is by canoe, and you might also spot the Sitatunga Antelope. In the afternoon, retire and drive back to your hotel to mark the end of your 2-Day Birdwatching Trip in Mabamba Wetland.
