4- Day Lake Mburo Wildlife and Cultural Experience

You will be met by our company safari guide who will brief you about your 4-day lake Mburo wildlife and cultural experience. You will travel to Lake Mburo National Park, passing small towns and arriving in time for lunch and relaxation, followed by a short evening game drive. This tour includes a stop at the Equator for photos and water experiments, as well as a visit to Mpambire to see how local drums are made. After checking into your lodge, you will have lunch and then prepare for an evening game drive.

After breakfast, your driver guide will take you to Lake Mburo National Park for a game drive or a nature walking safari, based on your preference. The park has a challenging past with wildlife and humans, leading to the extinction of some major animals like lions. However, better cooperation between the government and locals has allowed animals to return, including rare lions and giraffes. You can expect to see elands, topis, buffaloes, zebras, and impalas. Afterward, enjoy lunch, relax, and take an evening boat cruise on the lake.

After lunch and some rest, you will go for a 2-hour boat cruise on Lake Mburo, where the Lake Mburo cruise offers chances to see hippos, crocodiles, and various birds like the African Finfoot, Yellow-billed Stork, Cormorants, African Jacana, African Fish Eagle, and several Kingfishers. You might also spot some buffalo and antelope species drinking water. After the cruise, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, we will drive southwest to Mbarara town to visit the Rwenjeru Community Camp site. The local community, mainly cattle keepers, will welcome you and share their daily activities such as cattle rearing, watering, and milking. They will tell famous stories about pastoralism and Ankole long-horned cattle. Next, we will drive to Igongo Cultural Center for lunch, where traditional dishes are served. After lunch, you will tour Igongo Museum to learn about its ethnographic collections before returning to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

After breakfast, you can choose between an early game drive or a nature walking safari to explore the wilderness. Currently, only Lake Mburo offers this walking safari. You will see the same sights as on a game drive, but on foot. Finally, check out of the lodge and drive back to Kampala, having lunch on the way, ending your 4-day wildlife and cultural experience.
