Our 4 Days Nyungwe and Lake Kivu adventure offers a short trip in Rwanda. You can see chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest National Park and take a guided hike on the Canopy Walk bridge for great views. The trip ends with a boat cruise on Lake Kivu and a coffee tour.

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
In the morning, our company safari driver will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali. You will drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, stopping in Butare to visit the national museum and the king’s palace. You will have en route lunch, and later in the evening, you will check in at your booked hotel / lodge. Relax, have dinner, and an overnight stay.

Have your delicious breakfast and attend a briefing before entering Nyungwe forest to search for active chimpanzees. They are easy to find as they jump between trees and make noise. Chimp tracking lasts about 3 hours. After a packed lunch, return to meet your driver guide. Then, go on a guided nature walk along the 60-meter canopy walkway bridge suspended from large trees, offering a stunning view of the rainforest and wildlife below. This walk takes a maximum of 2 hours, after which you can relax at your accommodation. Drive back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu- Gisenyi and Afternoon Boat Cruise
Wake up early in the morning, take your breakfast, then embark on a 4 hours’ drive to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi, arriving in time for lunch at your booked lodge/ hotel. Later in the afternoon, you will head out for a boat cruise on the stunning Lake Kivu, as you enjoy the humming boat, with sightings of several bird species, as you explore several islands, among others. After returning to your lodge, relax and spend the evening at leisure.

Day 4: Morning Coffee Tour and Transfer Back to Kigali.
After your breakfast, meet up with your guide for a coffee tour at the Kinunu washing station in Gisenyi. You will tour the facilities and learn how coffee is made in Rwanda, from harvesting to packaging. Enjoy a hot cup of coffee and support locals by buying some homemade coffee. After lunch, drive back to Kigali. You can choose to be dropped off at any hotel or at Kigali International Airport for your flight home.
