4 Days Volcanoes and Nyungwe Adventure

Our company safari driver will pick you up from your Kigali hotel and drive south to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You’ll stop in Butare to visit the Rwandan national museum and Nyanza’s king’s palace, have lunch, and stay overnight at a lodge.

Enjoy breakfast and a briefing before entering Nyungwe forest to spot Chimpanzees, which are easy to spot as they jump from tree to tree. Chimp tracking takes about 3 hours. After lunch, return to base and meet your driver guide. Take a guided nature walk along the canopy walkway bridge, a 50-meter swing bridge suspended from trees. Enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the rainforest and wildlife. Connect to your accommodation for an evening at leisure. The hike takes only 2 hours. Return to Kigali city and choose to have your driver drop you off at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel before meeting your driver guide for a brief tour of Kigali City, visiting sites like the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Kimironko market, and Caplaki craft Village. Lunch is provided before driving to Volcanoes National Park for a cultural tour of Ibyi’ wacu Village, also known as ‘the gorilla guardians’ village. Enjoy dance and singing performances from the local troupe and visit the former king’s palace.

Accommodation: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury), Hotel La Palme (Mid-range), and Muhabura Guest House (Budget).

Wake up early for breakfast before the 7 am briefing. Your guide will share key details about the gorillas you’ll track. The hike can last from one to seven hours through steep, bamboo slopes until you find the gorillas hidden in the vegetation. You can spend one hour with them while keeping a distance of 6 meters. After this experience, you will meet your driver/guide and return to your lodge for lunch. Later, you will transfer back to Kigali and arrive in the evening for drop-off at the airport or your hotel.
