Join our 6-Day Rwanda primate trekking adventure to explore Rwanda’s unique primate species, particularly the famous mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and chimpanzees in their natural habitats at Volcanoes and Nyungwe Forest National Parks.

Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Ruhengeri
You will meet our guide at your booked hotel in Kigali, freshen and after you will take a short city tour, visiting the genocide memorial site. Then, you will go to Ruhengeri for dinner and an overnight stay at your booked lodge/ hotel.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Early in the morning, after breakfast and a briefing from park rangers, you will embark on gorilla trekking into the jungle. This unique adventure involves searching for gorillas deep in the forest, navigating rugged terrain, and spending an hour with these amazing creatures. The trek in Rwanda can last 3-5 hours, based on the gorillas’ movements and locations. In the afternoon, you can take an optional village tour for a cultural experience before returning to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Nature walk - Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Rise up, have breakfast, and then report to the park headquarters to get a ranger guide for your golden monkey trek in Volcanoes National Park. This rewarding trek lasts between 1-3 hours. Afterward, you will have lunch, and in the evening you will participate in the Ibyi’wachu cultural tour. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Community Visit
Wake up early, prepare, and have your breakfast, and after embark on a 4-5 hours scenic drive to Nyungwe National Park, one of the oldest rainforests in Africa and a home to 13 species of primates. The major highlight of this lush jungle is the chimpanzees, which draw tourists from different parts of the world. Other primates include red-tailed monkeys, mangabeys, and blue monkeys, among others. Dinner and overnight at your lodge

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and Canopy Walk Experience
Enjoy your delicious breakfast and join a briefing before exploring Nyungwe Forest. Search for active and playful chimpanzees, which are easy to see as they jump between trees and make sounds. Chimp tracking lasts about 3 hours, after which you will return for lunch. Afterward, take a walking trail to the Canopy Walk at Uwinka, a 50-meter swing bridge offering great views of the rainforest and wildlife below. Return to the hotel for dinner before nightfall.

Day 6: Transfer to Kigali
Wake up at leisure and enjoy a hearty breakfast in the Nyungwe Forest. Your driver guide will take you back to Kigali, passing tea plantations. After lunch, you will bid farewell and be driven to your booked hotel or to the airport, hence marking the end of your 6-day Rwanda primate trekking adventure.
