Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport-Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival, our company representative / safari driver guide will warmly welcome you. After a brief introduction to your 7-day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari, they will transfer you to Volcanoes National Park. The tour will introduce you to the “land of a thousand hills” as you traverse through the rolling hills and emerald landscapes, hence the name. You will also wonder about the tapestry of the vegetation cover in relation to the topography of the region, among others. You will arrive in time, relax until dinner is served and an overnight stay at your booked lodge.

The adventure highlights that encountering gorillas will be a memorable experience unlike any other. Gorilla tourism has become significant in the 21st century. Visitors will hike through hilly and sometimes slippery and steep terrain, taking 2-6 hours to reach the gorillas in their natural habitats, and spend a maximum of 1 hour with them. It’s advisable to bring a packed lunch and water. After the hike, return for dinner and stay overnight at a lodge.

Lake Kivu, on the border of Rwanda and Congo, is the largest lake in Rwanda, offering exciting boat rides and scenic views. It resembles a giant inland sea and has charming lakeside towns. The lake is a short 2–3-hour drive from Kigali, making it a great spot with tranquility and serenity purposely for swimming, canoeing, and water skiing. Gisenyi, a once-popular resort, now feels quiet with some old, neglected buildings. After gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park, visitors can enjoy a boat ride, see many bird species and animals, and have Dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Wake up at leisure, prepare and have your breakfast at the lodge, then after your safari driver will transfer you to Nyungwe Forest National Park with lunch en route. This emerald forest is famous for its rich bio-diversity and is home to the shy forest dwellers like the chimpanzees, blue monkeys, mangabeys, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, and several other primate species. Check in at your booked lodge, relax, and spend your evening at leisure until dinner and overnight.

Wake up early and have your heavy breakfast, then transfer to the park headquarters in Nyungwe Forest for a briefing before searching for chimpanzees. However, it is advisable to move with a packed lunch and plenty of water prior to this excursion since it can sometimes last for over 6 hours. While in the jungle, expect to see several other wildlife species such as red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, olive baboons, mangabeys, and several bird species. The park boasts over 300 birds, with endemic species of the Albertine Rift such as Kivu Ground Thrush, Doherty’s Bush Shrike, Chain’s Flycatcher, Great Blue Turaco, black and white casqued horn bill, among others.

Wake up at leisure, and have your breakfast, after will get transferred by your driver guide to Kigali for a city tour. Expect to visit Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kigali Museum, Kigali Market and craft shops for souvenirs, among others. During Lunch, you will taste Rwanda’s local cuisine in different styles. Retire in the evening and return to your lodge / Hotel. Have dinner and an overnight stay.
