Uganda, the Pearl of Africa

It has a population of over 45 million people, according to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) report of 2024. The country has unique and hospitable people with a rich cultural diversity, boasting over 56 tribes, languages, and dialects.

Uganda enjoys a tropical type of climate, which is characterized by cool conditions in the mountains and wet conditions in the center and in the southwestern part of the country, with two wet seasons and two dry seasons throughout the year. Uganda is also home to the highest number of monkeys, such as red-tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, olive baboons, grey-cheeked mangabeys, galagos, and bush babies, among others.

Uganda is a birding paradise and home to over 1083 bird species, contributing over 50% of all birds in Africa and 10% of all bird species in the world. Some of the unique bird species include endemics, rarities, vagrants, and migratory birds, and these include forest birds, savannah birds, water birds, Albertine Rift endemic birds, and globally threatened and sought-after birds.

These species include the sought-after shoebill species, famous in Mabamba Wetland; the Fox’s weaver, the only endemic bird restricted to Uganda in the whole of East Africa; and many others.

All religious denominations are represented in Uganda, where most of them have a unique history that has shaped the nation. These include the Bahai temple, a unique temple of its kind in Africa, and the Uganda Martyrs Shrine, where the Uganda martyrs were burned to ashes because of their faith.
