Bwindi Impenetrable National park

A UNESCO World Heritage Site that takes pride in its outstanding biodiversity and is home to the rare mountain gorillas, with over 459 individuals, almost contributing to half of the world’s mountain gorilla population.

Apart from the gorilla trekking experience, which may take 2-7 hours in the jungle, Bwindi is one of the country’s leading birdwatching destinations, populated by various species of the Albertine Rift endemics. Murchison Falls National Park

This is Uganda’s largest protected area, covering over 3,893 km, established in 1952, and located in the northwestern part of the country. The park encompasses the spectacular River Nile and the popularly known world’s most powerful falls, Murchison Falls, where the Nile River forces itself into a 7-meter gorge, dropping 43 meters down to make a thunderous sound. Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most popular savannah destination, with a rich biodiversity including classic savannahs, water bodies, and marshes. All that serve as habitats for large mammals such as members of the Big Five mammals (elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo) and other animals, including primates, antelopes, and several bird species.

Kibale National Park

Famously embraced as the “primate capital of the world,” Kibale National ark is the country’s premier primate destination located in western Uganda, known for its chimpanzee population with over 1450 chimps, hence a perfect destination for chimpanzee trekking. The park is home to over 12 primate species, including the L’Hoest monkey, black and white colobus monkey, red-tailed monkey, red colobus monkey, blue monkey, olive baboon, and mangabey, among others. Kidepo Valley National Park

Safari experiences in Uganda

Gorilla safaris

These are wildlife tours where travelers trek and hike through the lush jungles of southwestern Uganda in search of the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural setting. These gorilla safaris commonly take place in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park, home to the world’s endangered mountain gorillas.

The gorilla trekking activity accommodates 8 visitors per gorilla family who trek and hike through steep slopes, streams, and lowlands in the lush jungle accompanied by a team of armed ranger guides and trackers.
